Accommodation

The Home is registered with the CQC to accommodate 24 residents.  All residents have their own rooms with several enjoying en-suite facilities.  We are registered for both men and women, usually over the age of 60.  However, we may consider younger residents under exceptional circumstances.

The proprietors of Birchfield Residential Care Home have taken great care when furnishing the Home to ensure that our residents enjoy luxurious and comfortable surroundings.  All our rooms are tastefully decorated.  Your room will be furnished with plenty of space for clothing and your personal belongings.  We encourage all our residents to bring along their own personal items to display in their room to make it feel more homely.  You may also be able to bring items of your own furniture providing they are not too large for the room and that they meet the health and safety requirements of the Home.  You will have a TV point and may also have a personal telephone line installed if you wish. All bedrooms are fitted with a push button 24-hour call bell facility.

Dining

Our dining rooms are beautifully furnished and we endeavour to create a relaxed, unrushed and pleasant atmosphere for our residents.  We encourage our residents to dine together however, they are free to eat in their own rooms if they prefer – this applies to all meals, including breakfast for those who like a leisurely start to their day.

Our menus have been devised on a four weekly cycle by our Head Chef who takes great care in balancing our residents’ nutritional needs.   All dietary needs, along with the likes and dislikes of our residents are catered for and the menus are reviewed regularly with our residents at the quarterly residents meeting.  Their wishes are taken into account and menus altered accordingly.  There is always another meal option available on request and all meals are freshly cooked on the premises. 

All produce is sourced locally in the Blackburn area with fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat delivered regularly from our local suppliers.  Fresh milk is delivered daily.
